Defense Verdict for The Kansas City Royals
In March 2011, Scott Hofer obtained a defense verdict for The Kansas City Royals Baseball Corporation in a case filed by John Coomer after he was struck by a hot dog thrown into the stands by The Royals’ mascott Sluggerrr. Mr. Coomer suffered a detached retina with complications requiring three surgeries. Mr. Coomer asked the jury to return an award in excess of $200,000. The jury deliberated for one hour before returning a defense verdict in favor of the Royals. The case is captioned John Coomer v.
